I will do no such thing. these are both great ideas.

Well, as your voice of reason, I would advise against that MG and that sweet Ford mill...
wait, that would be pretty cool, actually.
DO IT!!

No.

The big block is definitely pushing it, but you could realistically fit a 289 or 302 with a C4 connected to a cut drive shaft connected to a cut Ford 8” or 8.8” rear end into that MG, for under 4 grand, easy. Maybe under 3 if you found the right sellers. Definitely under 2 if you do your own fab work. I’m being completely serious. Sunbeam Tiger wannabe.

ITS UNDER 12 GRAND WITH THE CHEVY PARTS!!!

I can stop you on the Nova.
It’s not a direct engine swap. You’ll have to cut the shock towers and fenderwells out, plus you will have oil pan and steering issues. Most people just upgrade the entire front clip. Trans may require big tunnel modifications.

The ad mentions the guy pro cut the fire wall so that a big block could get shoved in. Can I rear mount the Trans so that I can get a semblance of balance?

Mmmmm, you’d have to go with a transaxle (probably Chevy) if you wanted it in back which woul
A) Be much more expensive
B) Be much more complicated ( linkages, wiring, etc.)
C) Probably take up trunk space
The inevitable battery relocation would add some weight on the back, as would a spare wheel. The normal trans would be comparatively pretty far back, also.

The first choice is, if I may be blunt, a pretty dumb idea. I say that as a British car guy and Midget fan.
Your second option...I can feel dat!

Midget + air cooled Porsche engine. You need to add lightness + power.

I hear that an M50B25 might fit into those, and they are cheap

A ford motor may keep it from coating your garage floor with oil, but you’ll still have to deal with Lucas electronic bits...
